A Lullaby for Zoë
© Paula Tohline Calhoun

Your mommy is coming home soon, child
Mommy is coming home soon.
As lovely as the deep blue sea,
And more constant than the moon is she.
Your Mommy is coming home soon.

Your daddy is coming home soon, child,
Daddy is coming home soon.
He’ll always love you just as you are,
You’ll always be his shining star.
Your daddy is coming home soon.

The world is turning around, child
The world is turning around.
Away from the sun and into the night,
Then back again to the morning light.
The world is turning around.

Tomorrow is waiting to be, child,
Tomorrow is waiting to be.
You won’t know exactly why or how,
So live your life in the here and now.
Tomorrow is waiting to be.

You will always be loved, child,
You will always be loved.
And the love you give is more precious than gold,
Give it away, it comes back ten-fold.
You will always be loved.

Sleep in heavenly peace, child,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
sleep like Winkin’ and Blinkin’ and Nod
The world is charged with the Glory of God.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.

The photo was taken yesterday – we got to babysit this weekend, while her Mom and Dad were packing up and moving to a new house that is more convenient to her Dad’s job.  They will now be even closer to us.  Her Uncle Josh and Aunt Sarah have also found a house of their own nearby, so all is well.  The joys of grandparenthood are beyond anything I ever dreamed.  And as biased as it seems, Zoë is a beauty, and an extraordinary child.  Such a gift to her family and to the world.  God is so Good – such blessings, all part of the abundance of enough. . .
